Jim Ogonowoski’s Uniform Violation?
Check out the brouhaha over at Richard Howe’s website regarding the potential violation of Air Force regulations by Jim Ogonowski. The regulation is pretty stringent on what a retired officer can do –
According to Air Force Instruction 36-2903 (2 Aug 06) where in chapter 6 (regarding retirees)
Table 1.3. Members: Do Not Wear: (wear the uniform for) furthering political activities, private employment or commercial interests.
Seems pretty straightforward to us. I don’t know why he insists on having the photo of him wearing his uniform on the home page. It looks a bit ill-suited to be honest.
And you thought that this was an all Kerry all the time website.
Kerry to Shareholders: Drop Dead
There’s a lot of chatter about John Kerry’s free-wheeling interview in the South Coast Today paper. Of interest is this off the cuff remark about the foreclosure crisis:
“Charge them 4 percent or 5 percent, whatever, forgo a little profit.”
The roots of the foreclosure crisis are the result of those who sought to purchase a home but lacked the resources to pay for them. In some respects, folks were speculating that the value of the house would increase and that it could be resold at a profit. Whether it’s tulips, dot-coms, or the housing industry — what goes up must come down. As tragic as this difficulty may be, there is no provision in the Constitution that declares that home-ownership is a right.
Now think of those who invested in mortgage companies and banks. They put their money in with the thought that their investment would reap a dividend that could help finance a college education, retirement, or a rainy day.
Now, according to John Kerry, that investor should be punished by reducing his return on the investment because the borrower at the other end of the equation made a commitment that he could not keep.
You would think that a Yale education and 24 years of being a Senator would make Kerry aware of, well, the dynamics of a market economy.
I don’t think another six years in the Senate will make him any smarter.
Voting for Kerry…Because?
Jim Ogonowski has an interesting post on his website. I’m not terribly interested in Lieutenant Colonel (Ret’d.) Ogonowski’s campaign but I found the reaction from Senator Kerry’s mouthpiece to Ogonowski’s effort to be illuminating.
David Wade said:
“These Republican Senate candidates should spend their time in Washington lobbying FEMA to declare the Massachusetts GOP a federal disaster area and pushing the Interior Department to declare Massachusetts Republicans an endangered species.”
You would think that Kerry, rather than berating the Republican Party with a cheap shot, would say something more positive about his campaign and what he’s done for the citizens of the Commonwealth for the past 24 years. Then again, perhaps, he has nothing positive to say.
Kerry & Isiah Thomas — Separated at Birth?
The New York Knicks are a horrible basketball team. In fact, the New York Daily News runs a feature on the “mercy number” — the number of games left until the season mercifully comes to an end. Nonetheless, to listen to the team’s coach and general manager, the Knicks are getting better with every game.
In fact, it seems that Isiah’s days are finally numbered – management can only tolerate so many defeats despite all the spinning.
Well, this seems to be the case with John Kerry. If you take a look at his initiatives page of his campaign website, he’s trying to spin leadership defeats as some sort of a victory. Earth to John — a defeat is a defeat.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled that he was unable to cut and run from Iraq and that he didn’t stop Samuel Alito from become a Supreme Court Justice. Furthermore, several of the candidates that he supported, well, they didn’t win. In fact, one candidate, who did get elected, proudly notes on his website that he broke from his party on a key vote.
If this is what passes for success with John Kerry then he’s looking at joining Isiah Thomas in the unemployment line.
Going Off the Deep End
Check out Marty Peretz’s post in the New Republic Online on John Kerry’s silly reasoning behind an Obama Presidency. Actually it’s quite sad.
There was a time when people took Kerry seriously. That train, alas, has long left the station.
Kerry v. Kerry
There was a persuasive anti-Kerry article in the online version of yesterday’s Gloucester Daily Times. Oddly enough the best lines came from the junior senator himself.
Senator Kerry spoke to about 150 paying guests at a Chamber of Commerce event at the Gloucester House restaurant. The Senator spoke extemporaneously (uh-oh) about a few things –
- The economy will be undergoing a crisis of confidence for the next ten months. We’re impressed with his ability to see in the future — but more importantly will the Red Sox repeat as World Champions?
- Defense contractors have been evading paying taxes by funneling federal payments through shell companies in the Cayman Islands. But is this illegal? Perhaps if we cut the corporate tax rates, maybe there wouldn’t be a need to funnel payments through shell companies? Or, maybe the Senator has been reading too many paperback thrillers?
- The Senate, in which he has served long enough to reach the mid-level of seniority, remains in the clutches of the minority Republican Party because of its capacity and willingness to filibuster. Way to throw your Senate majority leader, Harry Reid of Nevada, under the bus. Yikes! Didn’t the Democrats perfect the art of the filibuster when they were in the minority? BTW, what the heck is “mid-level of seniority” anyway?
- The traditional system of bill-making in Congress has eroded to the point that “we don’t even have conference committees anymore.” And this is bad because….?
- Powerful businesses get special tax breaks so transparently that many “have their own tax page” in the 27,000 page code. Forget about the tax breaks the “powerful businesses” get — the bigger concern is that we have a tax code that encompasses 27,000 pages?!?
- The federal government — president and Congress — has taken to giving marching orders to the lower governmental levels to end pollution and improve education without the requisite financing for the required work, thus creating “unfunded mandates.” Maybe it’s me, but isn’t Kerry a Senator who for the past 24 years has been ramming these unfunded mandates down the throats of lower government levels?
Joking aside, one gets the impression that John Kerry is tired of being a senator. He’s tired of the unfunded mandates, the byzantine tax code, the confrontational nature of Congressional life, and a slumping economy that is prompting him to wave the white flag of surrender.
Unfortunately John Kerry has been part of this problem , it’s a shame that he hasn’t come to grips with it.
Kerry the Hypocrite
The folks over at http://www.hubpolitics.com/archives/003066.php and at http://blog.worcestercountyrepublicanclub.com/?p=547 posted Jeff’s press release that was issued yesterday about how Senator Kerry says one thing about the troops and does another. The Senator was gracious enough to provide further proof that his words and actions are not one and the same.
As Comet Kerry makes its every six year appearance in Massachusetts, the junior senator recently visited a food pantry in Fall River to check up on things. Apparently there was a lag in state support for the pantry so Kerry sent a truckload in January. His recent visit was to see how things have fared. If Kerry was truly concerned about the plight of veterans — he would have developed programs to enable them to become self-sufficient rather than be dependent upon the beneficence of the state and federal governments. (He’s had 24 years to do this!) Unfortunately that requires a dedication to helping our veterans that the Senator simply lacks. Moreover it doesn’t permit cheesy photo ops either.

This is a website dedicated to commentary about Jeff Beatty’s candidacy for the senate seat held by John Kerry. I’ll be happy to exchange with readers on the merits of his campaign. I look forward to a spirited yet civilized debate!
